| The Accoustic Guitar is hollow with a sound hole and has six strings, three of nylon. Accoustic guitars are often used in folk music but can produce all styles of music. SEE ALL IN STORE TheClassical Guitar has six strings made of steel and therefore produces a very different sound from the accoustic guitar. The neck of the classical guitar is broader too so possibly not a good choice of instrument for the beginner and it is a difficult instrument to learn to play competently.. The Electric Guitar is not usually hollow and you will need an ampifier to produce the sound you require. There are controls on the instrument, but electric guitars are much easier to play than accoustic guitars as the strings are easier to depress therefore you don't get such sore fingers when learning to play.SEE ALL IN STORE The Bass Guitar is used in many styles of music and fulfills the anchor role in the harmonic framework and lays down the beat. They look similar to an electric guitar but usually have four strings tuned to the same pitch as the four lower strings of a six string guitar i.e.E,A,D and G. SEE ALL IN STORE Before buying a guitar consider what type of music you wish to play as this will determine your choice between accoustic anfd electric and remember if you get stuck with the wrong one you will be less enthusiastic about playing it. If you are buying for a child try to imagine what they would like to play rather than what you would like them to play. If your chosen music is playing chords to sing along to and you think you can handle a steeper learning curve then the accoustic guitar might be the right choice but if you think you might get frustrated easily and you want to play hard rock music then definitely go for an electric guitar. |
